Opihikao
Opihikao is definately a community for the locals and has many pure Hawaiians residing here. Tourists just drive through here without stopping. It is located at the end of an old back road that cuts off the main highway near the steam vents and careens precariously down hill through farms and properties where you are no longer quite sure if you are on a public road or trespassing.

The church has been here for quite a while and is still regularly attended. As an attest to the triving nature of the congregation I noted that the church had recently enjoyed a facelift and the neighboring community structure was receiving considerable attention by carpenters when I took this shot.
